Boston Harbor has been great this past week. The early morning and late evening bites have been sustaining for several hours each and not even the tankers have been able to stop them. The other good news is the pogies are in all over the place, meaning the biggest stripers of the year will be here soon.

On the fly the stripers have been getting pickier and picker with their choice of bait in the harbor. The most consistent flies have been olive over white hollow fleyes and peanut bunker colored hoo flies! Peanut bunker are still a while away from arriving in the Boston Harbor, but the stripers just can’t seem to get enough of those flies. On the light tackle side, the white Hogy 10″ originals on a swimbait hook has been a top producer with walk the dog style topwater baits producing on the overcast and dark days.
For the live bait guys pogies are everywhere but are heavily concentrated around lower middle and mackerel are still to be found, but will take a trip up north to Nahant or Swampscott to find in any real numbers.
Tight Lines,
