The Outside Fingers are the deeper, western counterpart to the Inside Fingers on the grounds south of the Vineyard, and they have a strong reputation as a bluefin jigging spot. The finger structure concentrates bait, and the fish set up on it.
The ground
Fish the fingers and their edges. The structure here is known for holding fish you can drop on, which is why it earns its jigging reputation.
How to fish it
This is a spot to jig: mark fish on the structure and drop on them, working knife and flutter jigs through the marks. Trolling the edges helps locate them.
Tip When you mark fish on the Outside Fingers, get a jig down fast. This is prime jigging structure, so a heavy knife jig dropped straight onto the marks often beats trolling past them.
