Fishing’s in the blood

Hi, I’m Captain Nick, a fifth-generation fisherman from a long line of ship captains and harbor masters on the Mississippi River, Boston Harbor, and in England.

I grew up chasing speckled trout and redfish in New Orleans before moving to Boston, and I’ve fished Massachusetts salt and freshwater ever since, from the North Shore down to Cape Cod and the Islands. Outdoor education has been a huge part of my life: I’m a certified sailing instructor who’s taught in Boston Harbor, I’ve run major offshore yacht races, and I’ve been through multiple Safety at Sea courses.

I’m CPR and First Aid certified and, until recently, a certified EMT, Wilderness First Responder and AHA CPR/First Aid instructor. Bordering on insane, I’ll fish year-round in the Northeast, yes, even at −10°F.

The boat

“Bon Temps,” a 2021 Conch 27

Our primary boat is a 2021 Conch 27 with bracket, powered by twin Mercury FourStroke 225s. She’s a 27′ deep-V with a great ride in the chop, a pronounced Carolina flair to keep everyone dry on the runs, and a hull that stays stable on the drift and at anchor, with no rolling side to side like a washing machine while you’re trying to cast.

A clear deck with no obstructions to catch fly line makes her the perfect fly and light-tackle platform, whether we’re chasing inshore stripers, running down albies in the fall, casting the rips for the big girls, or heading offshore for tuna.

She’s rigged with top-of-the-line Simrad electronics (twin 16″ NSS Evo3 MFDs, StructureScan 3D, Halo radar), dual Icom VHF, ample rod storage for 9–11′ fly rods, three high-capacity livewells, and a Bluetooth stereo for tunes on the way out.

Safety first

Your safety is the top priority

The safety equipment aboard exceeds US Coast Guard and MA Environmental Police requirements, and we test and drill emergency scenarios monthly. We also undergo voluntary USCG Auxiliary safety inspections.

Offshore life raft with provisions · Two Category II 406MHz ACR EPIRBs · Fixed and handheld DSC/GPS VHF radios · Rapid ditch bag with emergency gear · Commercial Type I PFDs for everyone aboard, each with SOLAS reflective tape, a distress light and a whistle · Throwable life ring with floating line · Visual distress signals · Air horn and whistle · Fire extinguishers · High-capacity automatic bilge pumps.

Your captain walks your whole party through the safety equipment and emergency procedures at the start of every charter. Ask as many questions as you like. Kids under 13 wear a Coast Guard-approved PFD at all times, and we provide them.
