The Watuppa Ponds in Fall River, North and South Watuppa, are big, productive bass water. South Watuppa is the main public fishery, offering largemouth and smallmouth bass, pickerel and panfish, while North Watuppa is a water supply with restricted access.
The water
South Watuppa is a large pond with weedy shallows, drop-offs and open water. Largemouth and pickerel hold in the weeds and cover, smallmouth on the deeper structure, and panfish school throughout.
How to fish it
Fish the weeds and cover for largemouth and pickerel with stick worms and spinnerbaits, and the deeper structure for smallmouth with drop shots. Panfish take small finesse rigs.
Tip Note which pond is which before you go. South Watuppa is the open public fishery; North Watuppa is a restricted water supply, so plan your access around South and confirm the current rules.
