The Claw is a western-edge spot on the grounds south of the Vineyard, sometimes fished as a last-ditch option when the closer spots are quiet. Along with bluefin, it has a reputation as a good mako area.
The ground
Fish the structure and edges here for tuna, and be aware the same bait-rich water draws sharks. It links westward toward the Dump and the RI grounds.
How to fish it
Troll and jig for tuna. If you are targeting mako, remember that retention of makos is prohibited, so fish for the release.
